We are into our new robot project. Each team is constructing a robot that is on wheels and has an arm to pick up items like a soda can. One team has finished construction and is learning to take the robot through its paces. Eventually, all team will have to direct the robot via its onboard video camera through a maze and pick up cans left in the maze. Each team member will have to complete their task before the other teams do. A kind of robot relay race.

Later this spring we will be going to a plant where they manufacture computers.

Robot Obstacle Course

The teams competed in a timed obstacle course that required them to drive the robot by video only, picking up a can and carrying it with them, placing it over a wall and retrieving it, then carrying it through an S turn and placing it on a box. Depth preception as interesting.
